Open Pit and Underground Mines

Sharp-edged stones and aggressive surfaces can destroy tires within a short period. Whether it be diamonds in a freezing arctic lake, copper and gold high in the South American Andes, iron ore in the Australian desert, or coal seams and complex deposits deep underground are all just a few challenges confronting companies in the industry.

Mining has evolved and moved with the times and sophisticated machinery has superseded man. Given the substantial investments in these machines, optimal productivity is an essential and core requirement. Any unscheduled downtime is an unwanted and costly inconvenience. When wheeled machinery is involved, the profitability of the operation is dependent upon the tires. Without which the machine is just a complex arrangement of parts. Protect your tires with ERLAU TPC today to avoid costly tire damage and productivity delays in the future.

Quarries

Quarrying

Mucky, slippery, and sharp surfaces are a great hazard for tires. Quartz silica, dolomite, basalt, and granite are just a few of the causes of excessive tire wear. Flint, slate, and shale-like rock or demolition of debris can cause punctures and sidewall cuts. In these instances, to prevent any damage, a tire protection chain is ideal for creating a barrier between tires and ground surface. The density of the mesh required will depend on the exact nature of the work site. In every case, the mesh will be self-cleaning, and the links specially hardened to resist wear at the points in which they interact with the connecting rings. One moment your loader could be crowding into the rock fall and the next it is slumped and immobile. You are now looking for a temporary fix or replacement and left with a costly standby for your operation that a tire protection chain would have prevented.

Slag

Slag Sites

Working in areas with fire and hot slag leads to burnt tires and can potentially lead to loss of equipment while also being particularly dangerous for human workers. Steelmaking is one of the harshest environments for men and machines. Pot carriers are used to move vessels of molten slag to the dumping pit. Then the machines transfer the still fiery residue to the recycling point which separates residual steel for re-smelting and limestone block making. Whether the slag is a hot liquid or in the cooling process, it is an unforgiving and challenging material. Tires are subject to heavy abrasion. Specifically developed and specially hardened forged wear links ensure optimal tire protection even during use on these hot and burning surfaces.

Scrap Metal and Recycling Sites

These sites place enormous demands on tires and equipment. A daily challenge imposed on tires and wheeled loaders are hidden hazards. Any time a loader crowds into the demolition heap, there is a risk that the tire will be pierced or experience other types of damage. A burst tire can instantly bring production to a standstill while waiting for a replacement.
